HOW DOES IT WORK?
- Answer questions and perform tasks typical of the ICAO English Language Proficiency (ELP) exams.
- Your answers will be evaluated by an official ICAO Aviation English examiner.
- Find out your level in each of the 6 language proficiency descriptors (Pronunciation, Structure, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension, Interaction).

Hi! I'm Nikki, an ICAO Aviation English Examiner & Instructor with over 20 years of teaching experience ‘under my wings’.
I've always had a love for languages, a passion that led me from my home in the UK to Spain in 2002 to immerse myself in learning Spanish. My journey in language education began soon after and I quickly ended up running my own language school alongside being a Cambridge English Examiner.
I was fortunate to be able to merge my love for languages with my enthusiasm for aviation when I became an ICAO Rater at my local flight school. This combination of interests and expertise culminated in the creation of Plane and Simple English, a business dedicated to supporting pilots and air traffic controllers in achieving fluency and confidence in English in an aviation context. I offer specialised aviation English courses, exam preparation, and continuous support, which began face-to-face and is now expanding online.
My thirst for languages continues, and these days I dedicate my free time to studying Korean and dreaming about where I can travel next. My goal is to become a full-time digital nomad and live the dream!
